An incident happened at Coles in South Melbourne tonight that left me very shaken up. I was treated like a dog simply for trying to help stop a thief. At approximately 715pm I walked into Coles Southbank to do some shopping after I had a long day at work. In the foyer of the South Melbourne Complex I was disinfecting my Trolley to enter the store. Once I did this I heard the buzzers go off and a man with a big bag walked out. A few people around me stopped and looked, I noticed he had a lot of Coles merchandise in this bag. I tried to block and stop him and he just kept on walking. I grabbed his shirt and there was a scuffle between me and him. Another Lady tried to help. I hurt my finger trying to hold him. Meanwhile there is no security around at all.

As this was happening I noticed the lady at the service counter just casually serving customers. Me being Angry and Injured approached this older lady behind the service counter and said Excuse me are you not even going to acknowledge what happened? Her words were “Excuse me I’m serving customers” I was outraged that she did not even ask if I was ok. Still I cannot see security anywhere. Then I went in the store still shocked at what happened and no one helping. I asked the lady monitoring the self service station whee is security and that a man stole a whole bunch of things and I was trying to stop him. She was shocked that security was not there also. Then out of the blue security was coming towards me from inside the store. I stated what happened and that someone just got away with stealing and I tried to stop it. He asked where. So I led the security guard outside on the street and the culprit was there casually sitting on the bench. I pointed to him and security just briefly questioned him asking to see in his bag. The culprit refused. Obviously knowing what security can and can’t do. As I was going back inside I notice the Coles staff member at the service desk was on her mobile phone. This was the staff member I had an interaction about the incident She was an older lady. I did make a passing comment along the lines of Maybe get off your phone and you will have acknowledged the incident. She started answering back. So I went in the store to continue my shopping. Then she came up to me saying that a lot of people steal and that she cannot do anything about it. Meanwhile my finger was hurting to try and stop this guy. Not a single acknowledgement was made to thank me for trying to stop this. She started to cause a fuss saying to her fellow staff member that’s I was abusing her. In which I was not. Maybe my tone was higher but still my stance on this stood as I was being ignored. Then the security came back and and I was asked to leave the store by him. All because I was trying to stop a theft. I asked him why I was being asked to leave and he said because I was causing trouble. This is absolutely ridiculous. This Security guard was not at the scene when this happened and I got injured. My finger is in pain. I stormed out of there so Angry. It is all on CCTV. I need an investigation on this done ASAP.

When I got back to the car I called the store and I got a Daniel on the phone. Daniel said to me that he was the manager. I went on to tell Daniel I am disgusted on how I was treated when all I was doing was trying to stop someone from stealing. Daniel did not care about what I had to say. I asked for the name of the security guard and he refused to tell me. He was being very rude and did not apologise or anything. Or even a thank you.

I have only been shopping with Coles Maybe a month as I am usually a Woolworths customer. And I’m not going to sit here and say that I’m going to use woollies from now on like every complaint. All I’m asking is for you to review the video footage. I am so upset. I have contacted lawyers to see what my options are as there is a lack of responsibility on your part. There should have been security to stop this. I injured myself only to get thrown out because that staff member told the security to kick me out because I was raising my voice. This is crazy and I was left humiliated and injured just for trying to do the right thing. It is all on CCTV. I need an investigation done ASAP. Tomorrow I will making more enquiries to the appropriate people to see where we go through here.

Disgusting customer service by Coles Online 'Customer Service' and delivery staff. Groceries were to be delivered between 1pm-7pm on Saturday and instead were delivered around 1.30am on Sunday and left at a shed on the property not at the house so we were unaware of the delivery. Items that were frozen were completely defrosted and refridgerated items were no longer cold not to mention the slug on the butter. We had chicken, prawns and fish sitting outside for what was possibly hours. The shed it was left at is almost derelict yet less than 100 metres away was our well lit house. Had the delivery driver taken it to the house we would have woken up and been able to put the items away. However they should never have delivered it at such a ridiculous time of the night. I have now spent nearly the entire day trying to speak with someone and no one wants to take ownership of the problem. Your staff need to step up and solve these errors. If someone had of organised to get replacement items to me today or tomorrow I would have overlooked this stuff up however as I have wasted hours on it and still no success I will instead leave negative feedback for Coles at every opportunity.

After my first shopping online at Coles, could not be more disappointed with online service this is now the worst online shopping experience in Australia

I did a online shopping on coles on 14 July. They cancelled the order 75480099 cause they said that couldn’t find anyone at my home, but I left instructions and my phone number to call me because my building has no intercom and they didn't do it. I didn't want my order to be canceled and I was waiting for delivery. They gave me no choice just canceled the order and that's it

I asked for the refund via text message on the next day and I still don’t have my money back. Every time I send them a message they say that will take more 3-5 business days to get the refund. They didn’t take that to take extra $30 dollars of cancellation fee, but my refund still not happened.

I do not accept excuses for the inconvenience I want my money and the fee back now and if I need to take this incident further, I will.

I read only 2 peoples' comments. That was more than enough for me! What a pair of whingers! I use the Colonnades, Christies Beach and Southgate stores and find their all very co-operative and pleasant. Supplies have been put at risk, not by Coles, but some idiot customers, panic buying TOILET PAPER! Covid-19 is a RESPIRATORY problem, NOT a BOWEL problem, people, and by April, you should have worked that out, but no, some still kept up their hoarding of basic supplies. I do have ONE beef, but that is a manufacturer problem, nothing Coles could predict, so I will call and ask questions, before accusing anyone of wrong doing. Keep up the good work, Coles!

I came across a new product called LAOGANMA from China. Who the heck ordered this in when it has been withdrawn from the Asian American Markets due to the high amount of Cadmium??!! Yes, I do realize the Australian people are stupid and gullible - but you have a duty of care to investigate an item before putting on your shelves for the public!

After 30 years shopping i the one Store, Toukley - at the age of 87 and disabled I am now in a situation I struggle to shop each week, Staff refuse to assist with packing my goods usually around $190 worth. Youngsters stand and watch with their arms folded and a sickly smirk on their faces - If Coles are afraid their Child aged Staff are so scared of germs from our bags - why not stop and think of how many people have actually touched the goods before we the Customer gets to handle the items and pay for them? Why not get some plastic gloves and distribute amongst the Staff - the gloves along with numerous other plastic items are on the shelves - how about Coles Management think of the Customer and give some good old fashioned service? Also, the latest trick of Coles is to get the checkout operator to sneak a charge of 15cents onto the list of purchases - listed as a bag? No bag just a charge - isn't that stealing? Whilst we the disabled and elderly struggle - the queues get longer with angry Customers - they lack tolerance!~

We the elderly and disabled do not blame the Customer - the fault lays with Coles Management and greed! Now that they have started this trend of "pack yourself" - watch out Customers - SERVICE is something of the past - makes the corner Store very attractive!

Hi

Today I went into one of your stores

Only to be confronted by one of the staff

By a abrupt manner refusing to wipe down the machines through this epidemic and not knowing what the policy was as he worked upstairs in the office

I did not say anything further to him as he put me down infront of other customers

I had a staff call down the store manager

I let him know what had happened

And mentioned to him how he is not familiar with the store policy

And that he was going to talk to his staff only to find out that the store manager stormed off as nothing had happened

No apologies

😡

I have just submitted a complaint letter by email and will post a copy this afternoon to Mr Steven Cain, CEO Coles. If I am able to, I will update this review when (if??) my complaint letter is replied to. If previous experience is any guide, I will be surprised if I do receive a reply and even more surprised if it is a satisfactory response. But I live in hope.

Good morning

I am a bit disappointed in your on line ordering over the last 3 weeks.

Everyday items like coffee and men's Deordorant aren't available online, yet I received catalogues emailed and these products are in the stores. When I do to add them to my online grocery order they are unavailable.

I have rung and spoke t9 someone, these items by be discontinued, when I know they aren't. I then have to into the stores to buy these items.

I don't want to make a complaint just w want to know why?

I am thinking of going to Woolworths online.

Kind regards

Becky
